FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • You can view the weekly ice schedule and purchase tickets HERE.

    Our ice schedule is released on a weekly basis, Sundays at 5 the following week and is subject to change each week.

  • You can find our current pricing on our rates page. 

  • Ticket sales begin on Sundays at 5 PM when the ice schedule is posted for the following week. Tickets are available online or in person at the admissions booth located at 207 Thompson’s Point Road, Portland, ME 04102.

  • 1. Visit the Ice Schedule & Ticket page. 

    Select "Tickets & Reservations" to access the online portal. Then, choose "Purchase Public Skate Tickets Here." 

    2. Select the Public Skate - Standard Tickets Public Session.  Locate and click "register" under "Public Skate - Standard Tickets Public Session (Ticket Activity)." 

    Do NOT select the Online Passholder option. 

    3. Choose your session. Select the date and time that works best for your schedule. 

     4. Select the number of tickets. Enter the total number of tickets needed for the session and click “add tickets.” IMPORTANT! Only one name is required, even for multiple tickets. Do not add more than one name. 

     5. Review your order and follow the prompts to add it to your cart. 

    6. Enter your payment details. 

    7. Your receipt serves as your ticket, though a roster is maintained at the admission window

  • All skaters and patrons must check in at the admissions booth at Thompson’s Point Rink, 207 Thompson’s Point Road, Portland, ME 04102 to be admitted onto the ice.

    Even those with their own skates, must check in at the ticket window.

  • Sorry, at this time tickets are non-refundable.

  • No. For the safety of all skaters, sticks and pucks are not permitted during Public Skate sessions.

  • Yes. Pond hockey is a separate program, not part of Public Skate. Participants must be 18+ to play. Helmets are required and all players must sign a liability waiver. Sessions are capped at 20 players, run in 5-on-5 format, and are listed on the weekly schedule when scheduled

PUBLIC SKATING

  • Yes. Rentals are $6 per pair and available at the admissions booth. We offer both hockey and figure skates ranging from toddler size 6 to adult size 13.

    Rentals must remain on the property and are for exclusive use at Thompson’s Point Rink only.

  • Yes. Every person on the ice, regardless of age, is required to wear skates. Rentals are available from toddler size 6 to adult size 13.

  • Not at this time. Rentals are $6 per pair and available at the admissions booth. We offer both hockey and figure skates ranging from toddler size 6 to adult size 13. Rentals must remain on property.

  • Yes. We have 20 skate assists available for free on a first-come, first-served basis. Personal skate assist devices are not permitted due to insurance regulations.

  • We do! Aprés Lounge hours of operation & menu offerings can be found HERE. 

  • Yes! We have heated bathrooms on site for use.

  • Gift cards are not available at this time. We do offer a book of 10 public skating passes for $100, available for purchase in person or through the online ticket portal.

 WEATHER & PARKING POLICIES

  • If a session is cancelled by Thompson’s Point Rink due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, tickets are automatically refunded. Ticket holders will be notified via email and cancellation notices will be posted on Facebook and Instagram. If there is no email or post, the session is on as scheduled.

  • Yes. Thompson’s Point is a 30-acre campus with multiple parking areas close to the rink. Parking is $2/hour, 24/7 including weekends and holidays. Payment can be made using the Passport Parking app (zone 1213) or at any of the 14 pay-and-display kiosks on campus. For more info, visit the Thompson’s Point parking site HERE.

 PRIVATE RENTALS

  • Two-hour rentals are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout the season (December–February, weather permitting). Rentals are popular and book quickly.

    • $600 for two hours (weekdays & Sundays)

    • $800 for two hours (Saturdays)

    Rates include up to 200 people and do not include skate rentals, skate sharpening, or bar services.

  • Yes. Thompson’s Point Aprés Lounge handles all food and beverage exclusively. No outside food or beverages permitted. Options include cash bars, consumption tabs, drink tickets, and concessions menu service. A staffing fee may apply depending on the size and scope of your event.

  • No. Skate rentals are available separately for $6 per pair.
